Congratulations to WBA member Joe Griffin on his selection as a Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) Class of 2013 member and Mariana Grijalva for her recent graduation from LMC Class of 2012!
Mariana Grijalva and Joe Griffin are associate attorneys at The Strong Firm and are both members of The Woodlands Bar Association. Their participation in the LMC program helps to further their knowledge of Montgomery County.
Leadership Montgomery County is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and enhancing current and future leaders of Montgomery County. The program provides an educational forum and mentoring opportunities for participants and includes a different class project for every graduating class that is focused on improving the quality of life in Montgomery County.
Mariana Grijalva is a member of the recently graduated 2012 LMC class whose project was to build a play structure at the Montgomery County Women’s Center’s “Reaching Pines” transitional housing community. The class hosted an activities drive to collect toys, games, and bicycles for the children of the residents. In addition, they launched a pilot of a “buddy” mentorship program to demonstrate positive role models for the kids.
Joe Griffin has been accepted into the 2013 class program starting this fall with 42 other members. Promoting knowledge, awareness and insight into our community, the LMC Program facilitates monthly sessions which cover the topics of quality of life, infrastructure, government, public safety/criminal justice, economic development, healthcare, education, and leadership development.
“Participating in LMC was a very rewarding process that enriched my knowledge of our County and the people in it,” explained Mariana Grijalva, “and provided many valuable relationships and experiences that I look forward to applying to my practice.”
Joe Griffin added, “I am excited about the prospect of gaining additional knowledge, awareness, and insight into our amazing county, and the unique opportunity to give back to our local community through the 2013 class project, as well as the ability to connect with others with an eye toward service and improvement.”
Bret L. Strong, founder and managing shareholder of The Strong Firm P.C., is a graduate of the 2005 Leadership Montgomery County class and is a member of the LMC Alumni Association. Eric R. Thiergood, Sr., senior associate attorney, is a 2009 graduate of LMC.
