Representing disaster survivors-An ABA Webinar-Free for ABA members-June 22, 2016 100-230 pm ET

With the flooding in our area, there are many people who will need legal representation in dealing with the resulting flood damages.  If you are a member of the ABA, you might be interested in an upcoming free webinar on representing disaster survivors.  The topics in the webinar will help participants to:

  • Identify the statutory and regulatory framework applicable to disasters and the roles of the federal, state and local government in a disaster
  • Recognize and assist with the most common legal issues faced by disaster survivors such as insurance disputes, FEMA benefits, landlord-tenant issues, consumer fraud, and more
  • Connect survivors with various resources available following disaster, including the ABA Disaster Legal Services program, Small Business Administration, American Red Cross, and legal services organizations supported by LSC
  • Navigate the myriad ethical considerations presented in disaster representation
