First MCLAC Volunteer Legal Clinic is a BIG Success

On August 26, 2016, MCLAC (a coalition of Lone Star Legal Services, the Woodlands Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, Exxon-Mobil Law Department, Beacon Law Advisors, and Tahirih Justice Center), held their first free legal clinic for Montgomery County citizens who qualified for Lone Star Legal’s Services. MCLAC volunteers were ably assisted by the Montgomery County Women’s Center, Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Law Library who provided conference rooms for the event and provided many hours of planning to make the clinic a success.

At the clinic, 17 clients were interviewed and/or were provided with services.  Additional persons attended, but either left or requested a call back from Lone Star Legal Services.  All in all it was a great turnout for the first clinic.

Thanks to the attorneys who attended to interview clients: WBA/MCBA members: Patricia Chapman, Jessica Guobadia, Patrick Scott and soon to be attorney, Judah Broussard; and ExxonMobil attorneys: Dawn Norman, Paul Wills, Rick Vust and Adam Brown.

The next clinic will be held on September 30, 2016 from 1-4; look for an email advertising and requesting attorney volunteers.
