About the event
The U.S. immigration system is a complex and ever-evolving field that intersects with many areas of law, including corporate, family, criminal, and business transactions. This CLE is designed for non-immigration attorneys who want to develop a working knowledge of immigration law fundamentals to better serve their clients.
We will cover the basic structure of the immigration system, including key agencies involved, major visa categories, paths to residency and citizenship, and common pitfalls attorneys may encounter when advising clients. We will also discuss the impact of immigration status on employment, contracts, family law, and criminal proceedings, offering practical insights on issue-spotting and when to refer clients to an immigration specialist.
By the end of the session, attendees will have a clearer understanding of immigration law's role within the legal landscape and how it may impact their own practice.
